For 2 weeks now, I’ve ventured into Yves Rocher Haircare Range.

Replacing my current shampoo is the Low Shampoo Delicate Cleansing Cream which is meant for all hair types. Using Hawthorn Bio-Extract, an anti-oxidant, as its main ingredient, the Low Shampoo is made with more than 99% natural ingredients to promote healthy beautiful hair. It is retailed for SGD$15 for 200ml.

We all know how too much shampoo-ing will only strip the natural oils produced by our scalp, causing the scalp to produce even more oil to compensate what’s lost. With this, it forms a cycle. Whenever hair feels oily, the natural reaction is to wash & lather as much to get rid of the oily feel & sight of the hair. In order to break this viscous cycle, a progressive reduction of the use of shampoo with strong chemicals will allow our sebaceous glands to generate at a slower pace, thus, less oil on scalp. Sulfates are the common suspects of stripping hair from the essential oils.

The Low Shampoo Delicate Cleansing Cream features a light & mild formula that does not foam (because of it’s lack of Sulfates & Silicone). The trick is to use fingers to spread the cream down to the ends instead of rubbing it in on the scalp for normal shampoos that foam.

To be honest, I never liked the feeling of using a shampoo with no foam as my hair does not feel as clean as using shampoo that foams. With Yves Rocher Low Shampoo Delicate Cleansing Cream, however, my hair feels so clean, fresh and smooth! My hair tangles quite a bit so I use conditioner straight after using the Low Shampoo at my hair ends.

My first experience with superfood was with Apple Cider Vinegar. Apple Cider Vinegar, as popularly known for its amazing benefits to treat many health conditions, is used to balance the hair & scalp pH while sealing hair cuticle to maintain moisture & reduce spilt ends to reveal smoother, shinier hair. I’ve tried this once but could not get over the sour smell on my hair, despite the fact that it made my hair feel so smooth.

So I was surprised that the Radiance Raspberry Rinsing Vinegar (Retailing for SGD$18 for 150ml) from Yves Rocher did not smell anything like vinegar though it’s made with 98% natural ingredients. Used bi-weekly as a rinse-off hair treatment (leave on for 2 minutes after shampoo-ing & conditioning), it smells incredibly sweet like mixed berries. The smell becomes faint once the hair is dried. I use this after conditioning my ends as this is not meant to detangle or nourish your hair. Instead, the Rinsing Vinegar aids in the restoration of hair cuticles, declogging of hair follicles & treating the hair fibres.

After the first application, I was surprised at how smooth and shiny my hair looked immediately after & it even lasts till the next day! So much so I had to get W to try it too & he loved the smell & how his hair felt so soft afterwards. I can see why this is the best seller in Asia. The bottle is exquisite. It looks like it’s made of glass but it’s actually plastic (to prevent breakage). It smells heavenly. It actually works. It’s affordable. I’m sold!

Last but not least, introducing Yves Rocher’s Exceptional Serum (Retailing at SGD$20 for 30ml). This is used on dry or wet hair to protect the hair from breakage. Made with 100% botanical Micro Oils & Hibiscus Peptides, the serum feels milky & light. I love how it does not feel oily, like most hair serums do. My hair tends to break quite a bit & I do notice the difference after these 2 weeks. When I comb through my tangled hair especially, the hair feels more resistant & I don’t see short strands of broken hair fibres around as much as before. Contained in a glass bottle, this serum complements the Low Shampoo & Rinsing Vinegar as an aftercare product. Yay to non-greasy hair!

Yves Rocher is a true gem find. I love how the company base its products on natural ingredients, ensuring effectiveness while remaining affordable to the mass market. Yves Rocher is available at Takashimaya S.C #B2-03, BHG Bugis Level 1 Cosmetic Floor, Isetan Tampines Level 1 & Westgate #02-16.
