A rainy weekend morning is best spent cosy-ing up in bed… unless there’s a beauty workshop to go to! I’m a very hands-on kinda girl & will jump at any chance to DIY anything, (Nerd alert – Design & Technology was my favourite subject back in my Secondary School. My proudest moment was when my end product for my O levels came in 3rd in ranking).

The Xetract workshop starts off by introducing the various skin concerns & how serums can aid in restoring beautiful youthful skin. I found the lesson extremely enlightening & educational. Because of the small class size, questions were easily resolved.

Next is where the fun part begins! The lovely trainer, Norlinda, then guided the class in mixing a hydrating blend of 3 serums into a small container, and then we got the chance to test out the texture of the end product. I found the mixture of Hyaluronic Acid, B3 & C2 easily absorbed & wasn’t sticky. Norlinda also cautioned us about how some serums cannot be mixed together. E.g. AHA Fruit serum cannot be mixed with Hyaluronic Acid or Retinol.

With a wealth of newly acclaimed knowledge at our fingertips, we started by deciding whether our personalised serum is for Day or Night use. The biggest question, then follows, which skin concern do you want to target the most. With that sorted out, the rest gets easier. I had a hard time convincing myself whether I needed another whitening serum or a hydrating serum. I opted for the latter. For the ultimate serum, it was recommended to mix up to 4 serums for the targeted needs. Since I wanted a hydrating serum, I added 2 serums meant for hydrating (Hyaluronic Acid & B3). Soon after, I added a serum for whitening (Gigawhite) & for anti-aging (Collagen). There you have it! I named mine the Pre-Wedding Elixir for I want glowy glowy bouncy skin on my big day!

There’s a little bit of math involved in balancing out how many millilitre per serums to add to make up of a 15ml serum bottle but fear not! Every phone comes with a calculator… There’s no need for any mental sums here. *Winks.

The workshop ended with everyone feeling super excited to try their very own ultimate serum. I tried it immediately the night of the event. I find hydrating serums easier & quicker to scrutinise as compared with whitening or anti-aging serums. One would usually need a much longer time using the whitening/anti-aging serum before actually deducing if it was effective or not. Usually in the mornings, my face will either be feeling a little tight & dry or overly oily (I sleep in air-conditioning) but this time, I got neither of those. Instead, I feel that my face is so well-hydrated that it gives a nice glow. Even my mom commented that I look different in the morning! With a good night care serum, and a more hydrated skin, I no longer need to tolerate a thicker (& usually stickier) day moisturiser & can use an emulsion instead. YAY to that!

So there you have it. There are sessions available for you to try the workshop & the dates are as follows:

  1. Saturday, 11th June 2016 for either 11:00am to 1:00pm or 2:30pm to 4:30pm
  2. Saturday, 18th June 2016 for either 11:00am to 1:00pm or 2:30pm to 4:30pm

The workshop is priced at SGD80 & will be held at Marina Square Shopping Mall, at the Mt Sapola boutique at #02-211.

Note: I was invited to the workshop. Despite so, it does not affect my views or the content written here.
