Being a technical person, I believe a whole lot in statistics. Origins had me at “Every 40 seconds someone buys a bottle” statement for its Mega Mushroom Skin Relief Soothing Treatment Lotion. What have I been missing out all these years?
The collection, collaborated with Dr.Andrew Weil, was created to help target inflammatory & treat sensitive skin. Incorporating Traditional Chinese Medicine into the lotion, Reishi Mushroom, a.k.a the “Mushroom of Immortality”, is known to calm & comfort while easing the redness in sensitive skin. It is also known to have life-extending properties to heal, and improve health. Another well-known ingredient in the Origins Mega Mushroom range is the Sea Buckthorn for its anti-inflammatory properties.
As we all know, Origins is famous for their natural skin care products & are formulated without parabens, sulfates & phthaltes. I knew I had to try out the Mega Mushroom Skin Relief Soothing Treatment Lotion to see why this was such a hot-seller.
I’ve had acne during my teenage years and now the redness seem to “boil” over. I have sensitive skin & my cheek area are often red, which is why I hardly leave home without at least a base on. So when I embarked on my journey with Origins Mega-Mushroom Skin Relief Soothing Treatment Lotion, I had high hopes. I mean if this is one of their best sellers, it must work for some people, right? & BOY IT DID!!! (kick myself for not trying this out earlier!)
Day 1 into using it, I already notice a slight difference in the redness. My skin felt more calm & less redness was observed. Even with a bb/cc cream, my redness can often be seen but my skin didn’t seem as agitated as it used to be.
By the end of week 2, I started leaving the house without any bases on & there was minimal redness. My skin felt more balanced & refreshed. What’s more, I no longer felt dryness/tightness after cleansing my face & my face felt more supple! The husband tried this & loved it too. Sometimes after shave, his chin gets all red, developing a rash. So we soaked a cotton pad with the lotion, leave it onto his chin for a few minutes and the redness is gone! AMAZEBALLS!
I was so fascinated by the results that I’m in to my 3rd bottle already… (*reviews should be sooner but forgive me for the wedding preparations got my hands full!) The favourite thing about this lotion is its versatility & how well it works. Another way I use this lotion is to soak a plain facial sheet mask & apply for 10minutes. Immediately the skin feels cooled & soothing. I use this on days after I go for my facial extraction where the skin is irritated & inflamed. Red-skin-no-more!
As an avid fan of skincare products, I like changing things up but I know this will always be a staple in my skincare regime. If anything, I will always need a bottle of this to calm my skin!
Here’s a summary.
TEXTURE – The lotion is light & feels like water. Doesn’t contain alcohol.
APPLICATION – I use it like a toner. After cleansing, before serum, with & without the cotton pads sometimes. For days with the cotton pad, I dap the lotion onto the skin. For days without the cotton pad, I pour some of the lotion on my palms & directly press it onto the skin. Also use a sheet mask to soak the lotion, apply onto the skin for 10 minutes and immediately feel the results!
THE GOOD – Calms the skin really well, reduce redness & sensitivity, hydrates the skin. The lotion helps balance the skin to its natural state.
THE BAD – Slightly costly.
BEST APPLIED – Best for sensitive skin or even skin rash!
VERDICT – 100%!!!
